Progressive Blackjack Betting Systems
It's easy to know what blackjack betting system really works—what hurts casinos most. If casinos strictly forbid something we can be sure it hurts them. Some casinos prohibit doubling down. But the most that hurts many of them is card counting. This means that card counting is really effective.
Second to card counting is probably doubling down. But not many casinos prohibit this, and this gives us the idea that it probably is not as deadly or effective as card counting. And this leads us to the question; why are progressive blackjack betting systems and strategies not menaces to casinos? In fact, some of them even like the idea of players with some systems trying them out in their casinos, but card counters they kick out.
Card counting can be so powerful that the casino odds can sometimes be tipped over to players. Casinos are known to go through a lot of fuss just to prevent card counting. They shuffle often, put in decks, or actually watch out for card counters. Progressive blackjack betting systems may work sometimes but not profitable enough. Casinos would rather have players wishing on the chance of streak winnings occurring in a game than actually being smart with card counting.
Make higher bets when winning and lower bets when losing—this principle makes it seem that the game is all about waiting for winning chances to come. Of course, system advocates will tell us that other factors matter and should be taken into consideration with the systems.
But the "other" factors, like the split, double down, and card count actually have been proven to work with or without any system. They are a system in themselves. Hence, the point here is any tactic that is said to ensure winnings ought to be used sparingly, according to the situation, and not to be heavily relied on. We cannot split cards all the time, or double down each seemingly good round. The same with the progressive systems.
Positive or negative progressive systems all sound like they're well-thought of winning formula but they're all reliant on a wish that consecutive wins would happen. Bets are raised in units or increments in a certain condition, and lowered to minimum in another. In short, when the wish seems to come true, bets are adjusted, and when the wish seems to fail, we abort.
But systems are worth trying. The thing to watch out for is relying on certain systems for a win. Winning is still a matter of the wit and skill.
